Location: Washington, DC
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Day Shift)
Hours: 40 hours per week

Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced PACU/Pre-Op Registered Nurse (RN) for an Ambulatory Surgery Center in Washington, DC. This position offers a daytime schedule and the opportunity to provide exceptional care to patients before and after surgical procedures.
Ideal candidates will have strong critical thinking skills, the ability to work independently, and experience managing complex patients—comparable to those seen in a Level I Trauma Center. This is not a surgicenter-level position; the acuity and complexity of patients are significantly higher.
Responsibilities
- Monitor post-operative patients’ recovery and consciousness levels from anesthesia.
- Obtain and document vital signs accurately and in a timely manner.
- Observe patients for any adverse reactions to anesthesia or medications.
- Manage and treat post-operative symptoms such as pain and nausea.
- Administer medications as prescribed and per protocol.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date EMR charting and medical records.
- Educate patients and families on post-surgical care, discharge instructions, and follow-up needs.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Qualifications

Required Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)

Highly Desired Certifications:
- Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN)
- Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN)

Licensure:
- Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington, DC
- Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington, DC

Experience:

Minimum 2 years of recent PACU/Pre-Op experience

Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (required for PACU experience consideration)
- Experience in a Level I trauma center or similar high-acuity environment preferred

Minimum 2 years of recent PACU/Pre-Op experience

Education:
- Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program – Required

BSN – Highly desired
- Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program – Required
